Dr. Weiss is the Editor of the Californian Journal of Health Promotion and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Child and Family Studies. She also conducts program evaluation for various school- and community-based programs.

Since 2006, Jie Weiss has served as a member of the Editorial Board and as an Associate Editor for the peer-reviewed “Journal of Child and Family Studies.” The Journal of Child and Family Studies is an international forum for topical issues pertaining to the mental well-being of children, adolescents, and their families. The journal translates the latest research results into practical applications for clinicians and healthcare practitioners, by addressing all facets of emotional disorders, including issues associated with identification, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention. Original papers detail basic and applied research, program evaluation, service delivery, and policy issues on emotional or behavioral disorders, child abuse and neglect, respite care, foster care, mental health care financing, homelessness, family stress, AIDS, and substance abuse, among other timely topics.

Jie Weiss co-organized the 44th, 45th, and 46th Annual Edwards Bayesian Research Conference in 2005, 2006, and 2007. This international conference is concerned with judgment and decision making, whether theoretical or applied, normative or descriptive. Program Evaluation

Program Evaluation

Several program evaluation projects are under way. One project is related to a Computerized Alcohol Screening and Intervention program (funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety) to address drunk driving. People with alcohol use problems are more likely to drive after drinking and have higher rates of illness, motor vehicle crash injury and other injuries than the general population. Other program evaluation projects include a pediatric obesity intervention program in Santa Ana, Personal Nutrition Planner funded Dairy Council of California, Follow the Leadership Program for Orange School District, Orange County.   Read More
